Skidding Fat Cats Lose 7th Straight
|
The Ottawa Fat Cats got a superb performance from pitcher Earnest Sorensen, but the Virginia Beach Whales still won the game, 5-1. Sorensen threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Virginia Beach reliever Desi Riley picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Adam Stewart absorbed the loss. The Fat Cats, at 42-59, have lost 7 straight games.
Jesús Figueroa came through with a big-time hit for Virginia Beach. The pinch hitter smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Feels good to get the job done," Figueroa said after the game.
