Guinea Pigs Best Farmers, 7-4
|
Thanks in large part to center fielder Mac Kenzie, the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs beat the Lancaster Farmers, 7-4. Kenzie went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2. Sean Long picked up the win, lifting his record to 11-7 on the season. He struck out 7 and walked 1 in 6.2 innings, while yielding 4 runs. With the win, Gwinnett raised its record to 54-48.
William Carson had a big bases-clearing double for the Guinea Pigs in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Gwinnett trailing 4-2 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Liam Fitzgerald and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Guinea Pigs ahead, 5-4.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Kenzie said.
