Lancaster Absorbs 8-2 Loss to Squirrel Hill
|
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis thumped the Lancaster Farmers, 8-2, at Farmers Field. John Barlow was a big reason his team got the win. Barlow went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs. Chris Barnes, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save. The 'W' lifts Squirrel Hill's record to 50-52.
The Pierogis got an important contribution from third baseman Felipe Torres, who in the top of the seventh hit a full count fastball to right for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Pierogis ahead, 8-2.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Torres said. "We did a good job of that today."
