With Late Score, Saboteurs Beat Thunder
Behind the hitting of Mike Newman, the Toledo Saboteurs stopped the St. Petersburg Thunder, 8-7. Newman was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Saboteurs. Toledo pitcher Tom Womack got the win. He's now 1-0. John Bowen was tagged with the loss. St. Petersburg drops to 1-4.

Dave Gibbons was the walk-off hero for Toledo. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Saboteurs shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Gibbons said.
