Giles Helps Thunder Defeat Pierogis, 12-7
The St. Petersburg Thunder powered past the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 12-7, at Baby Thunder Dome. Eric Giles provided some of the pop. He was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win puts St. Petersburg at 5-1.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Joe Bunte came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Squirrel Hill pitcher Jed Knight, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting St. Petersburg on top, 8-7.

"It's nice to see a lot of guys make contributions," said Thunder manager Alejandro Mingo.
