Stingers Post 3-1 Win
|
Toledo starter Kyle Chambers put the Memphis offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his fastball in leading the Stingers to a 3-1 win. Chambers got the win, improving to 6-4. He gave up 4 hits and walked 0 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Picking up his 1st save was former first round draft pick Gilbert Owen.
Willie Griffin cracked a home run off Marvin Velásquez in the bottom of the sixth. His 3-run blast put the Stingers on top, 3-1. In all, Griffin had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Griffin called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
With the win, Toledo upped its record to 48-32.
