Polar Bears Pick Up 3-1 Win Against Toledo
|
The Billings Polar Bears picked up a win at The Igloo, downing the Toledo Saboteurs, 3-1. On the mound for Billings was right-hander Jorge Pares, who played a pivotal role in the win. Pares got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Thomas Reed finished to wrap up his 4th save.
Tied up with the Saboteurs in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Polar Bears got a boost from designated hitter Ricardo Alfaro. With the bases loaded, Alfaro saw a 0-2 sinker from Gunadi Muljana and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Billings on top, 2-1.
"Jorge has got a slow heartbeat," said Billings manager Justin Broadfoot. "He doesn't panic or anything."
The win gives Billings a record of 4-3.
