Chesapeake turned a good performance from starting pitcher Ted Elkins into a 5-2 triumph over the Asheville Highlanders at Ghost Crab Park. The winner in relief was Pedro Sáenz. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. The Cangrejos Fantasmas raised their record to 6-6.

Bernardo López cracked a home run off Werner Payne in the bottom of the eighth. His 3-run blast put the Cangrejos Fantasmas on top, 5-2. In all, López had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"Ted was able to locate to both sides, up and down," said Chesapeake manager Jorge Baca.
