The Minnesota Loons got a magnificent performance from pitcher Daniel Shields, who muffled the Chesapeake offense en route to a tight, 3-0 Loons win at Ghost Crab Park. Kun Yi earned the save for Minnesota, his 3rd of the year. Chesapeake, with the loss, is 7-5.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Loons had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the fifth, when shortstop Cy Curry hit a 2-run single. The single came off Pedro Cabral and made the score 2-0, Loons. Curry went 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Minnesota manager Calvin Beck.
