Highlanders Claim 2-1 Win
|
Asheville starter José Bojórquez put a stranglehold on the Gulf Coast offense. The right-hander had complete command of his sinker in leading the Highlanders to a 2-1 win. Bojórquez got the win, improving to 2-1. He gave up 7 hits and walked 3 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Gerald Sutton finished the game for Asheville and earned his 5th save.
Doug Malone cracked a home run off Ánibal Vázquez in the bottom of the sixth. His 2-run blast put the Highlanders on top, 2-1. In all, Malone had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 4.
"I pretty much put my pitches where I wanted to," said Bojórquez.
The loss has the Turbeaus at 4-9.
