Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Huntington Hermit Crabs were eager to watch Bill Hernández square off against Jeff Tate of the visiting Grand Forks Caterpillars. In the end, the Hermit Crabs won the game, 2-0, with Bill Hernández leading the way. Miguel López picked up his 1st save of the season.

Robby Stevens helped out the Huntington cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the catcher was 1 for 2.
