Godfathers Score Late to Beat Bulls, 4-3
|
The Pontiac Godfathers took Belleville pitcher Vincent Wood's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Belleville Field. The final score had Pontiac getting past the Bulls, 4-3. Wood went 7 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 4. Pontiac reliever Naia Pirini picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Iván Morín took the loss. Raúl Santos was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Pontiac used the timely hitting of Ramón Fabián to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Godfathers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Pontiac manager John Moss. "It's usually not just one thing."
With the loss, Belleville falls to 1-1.
