Ghosts Walk It Off for 11th Win of Season
|
The Casper Ghosts in 11 innings beat the Providence Pilgrims, 3-1, at The Graveyard. Starting pitcher John Bell was a major factor, holding his opponents in check all game. The win was credited to Don Walker in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Jean-Luc Morand took the loss. Providence, at 3-15, is off to a dreadful start in 2059.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the 11th for Casper. That's when Francisco Hernández, who is tied for 4th in the SAA with a .627 slugging percentage, hit a 2-run home run off Jean-Luc Morand to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Casper skipper Caetano Alfena.
