The St. Petersburg Thunder picked up a win at Baby Thunder Dome, knocking off the Barton Springs Blues, 7-3. On the mound for St. Petersburg was right-hander Juan Torres. He played a key role in the triumph. The winner was Torres. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Ed Hull. Early on, the Thunder, at 14-5, have excelled.

Willie Dale had a big 2-run home run for the Thunder in the bottom of the first inning. With St. Petersburg leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Ed Hull and swatted a home run to right. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunder ahead, 3-0.

"Nice win for us," said Dale. "Now we'll go after the next one."
