The Mancelona Torch spoiled a good performance by Washington designated hitter Ethan Bacon Johnson, bumping off Washington, 2-1, at Torch Field. Johnson was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. Miguel Sandoval came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 4 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Getting the save was Jorge Ruíz, his 3rd.
Mancelona designated hitter Freddy Bravo contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 3rd hit of the season and put the Torch ahead, 1-0.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Washington manager Kyu-cheol Kye.
The victory makes Mancelona 3-1.
