Chiefs Get One-Run Win at Belleville
|
The Belleville Bulls and Caldwell Chiefs provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Caldwell Chiefs knocked off the Belleville Bulls, 2-1, in M3L Single A action at Belleville Field. Caldwell pitcher and Delray Beach, Florida, native Jerry Armstrong had an outstanding performance. In 6 innings, Armstrong surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. George Harris recorded the save for Caldwell, his 3rd of the season.
Frank Thompson, who is rated as the 38th best prospect by BNN, had a direct impact on the outcome. Thompson contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Caldwell up, 2-0.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Belleville manager Rafael Avelar said, following the tough loss.
The Chiefs, now 3-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
