Squirrel Hill third baseman Grant Cobb made his presence felt in the 5-4 Pierogis triumph over the Asheville Highlanders. Cobb went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Otis Farr picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Doyle Manning suffered the loss. With the win, Squirrel Hill goes to 12-11, while the Highlanders fall to 13-10.

Squirrel Hill took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Stu Kennedy hit a clutch solo home run to bring Pierogis fans to their feet.

Kennedy told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
