Atoms Beat Pilgrims, 8-4
|
The Bethesda Atoms relied on the hitting of second baseman John Bowman to stop the Providence Pilgrims, 8-4. For the game, Bowman went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Picking up the win was Rex Manning. He went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. The right--hander struck out 3 and walked 2. The Atoms now have a mark of 11-13.
Bethesda used the timely hitting of Jesse Young to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Atoms on top, 7-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Young said.
