The Asheville Highlanders captured an easy win, 12-2, over the Squirrel Hill Pierogis at Field of the Rawhides. Marcel Alberink led the offensive barrage, going 3-for-4 for Asheville. The first-place Highlanders are 14-10.

Alberink contributed in the top of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 2-run double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Asheville get the win.

Squirrel Hill manager Ben Cooper called the blowout loss "a real dud."
