Guinea Pigs Earn 7-5 Home Win
|
Gwinnett third baseman Larry Sanders was instrumental in helping the Guinea Pigs triumph, 7-5, over the Gulf Coast Turbeaus. Sanders was 2-3 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Cody Beasley, who leads the SAA in strikeouts with 37, was the winner. He's now 3-1. The loser was Terry Ward. The save went to Matt Griffin, number 8 for him.
Thom Guerra was 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Gwinnett. The 27-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Terry Ward. It was his 14th hit of the season.
"Just glad I could help us get a win," said Guerra.
With the victory, the Guinea Pigs upped their record to 13-12.
