Highlanders Earn Clutch Win, 12-11
The Asheville Highlanders outscored the St. Petersburg Thunder, 12-11. Matt Askin led the way, going 3-for-4 for Asheville. The Highlanders saw their win-loss record go to 17-10. At the same time, the Thunder fell to 15-12.

Doug Malone was the walk-off hero for Asheville. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Highlanders third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Askin told the Asheville Gazette.
