The Squirrel Hill Pierogis beat the Providence Pilgrims, 6-3. Squirrel Hill pitcher and Carleton, Michigan, native Clarence Hayes led the way. Squirrel Hill raised its record to 14-14 with the win.

Jeff McElroy had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the fifth for Squirrel Hill. With the bases loaded and the Pierogis leading 3-2, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"We take it day by day here," said McElroy, "and today was a good one for us."
