Turbeaus Take Down Highlanders, 5-3
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Gulf Coast Turbeaus and Asheville Highlanders.
The performance of Paul Sherman proved critical in helping Gulf Coast beat Asheville, 5-3. The Turbeaus designated hitter was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Gulf Coast pitcher Michael Carlson got the win, upping his record to 2-2. Lúcio Patino got the loss.
The Turbeaus got a gift in the bottom of the fifth inning, when they were leading 4-3. With two out and the bases loaded, Joaquim Pona reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run. It made the score 5-3, Gulf Coast.
"We did enough to win," said Pona.
Their 14-15 record puts the Turbeaus 6th in the Silver AA.
