Boston second baseman Dave Powell contributed significantly to his team's 12-2 win over the Mexico City Blue Demons. Powell, who is tied for 5th in the PL with a .300 batting average, went 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Patriots. The winner was Roy Roberts, who threw 98 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits. Mark Sanders earned the save, his 1st.
In the top of the sixth, the Patriots grabbed the lead when Powell hit his 7th home run of the season. The 2-run home run off Rhys Tregelles made it 4-2, Boston.
"We've been playing some good baseball," Powell told the Boston News. "We're aggressive and focused on what we're going to do on the field and getting it done."
Boston goes to 50-33. The win puts them 4 games up in their division.
