Turbeaus Pick Up 2-1 Win Against Tacoma
|
Craig Hines, who leads the SAA in innings pitched with 53.1, never let the Fur Traders get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his knuckle curve, to pitch the Turbeaus to a win, 2-1. Hines yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 4-0. Jason Taylor wrapped it up, recording his 9th save.
Joaquim Pona had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth for Gulf Coast. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Gulf Coast in front, 2-0.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Tacoma manager Jeff Rutherford.
The victory gives Gulf Coast a record of 18-12.
