Patriots Deal Northern Virginia 9-5 Defeat
The Boston Patriots powered past the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 9-5, at Atlantica. Steven Flowe provided some of the pop. He was 3-4 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Reliever Iiri Lahti picked up the win. His record improves to 3-1. Carlos Alaniz took the loss. Boston is now 47-36, Northern Virginia 39-44.

Boston used a timely hit from Justin Jacobson to get the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Patriots ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Boston manager Brian Fahie.
