Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Billings Polar Bears and the Asheville Highlanders. Billings won it, 2-1. Billings starter Wayne Horne was in command. The third-place Highlanders now sit at 18-14.

Billings used the timely hitting of Yataro Murakami to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Polar Bears on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Justin Broadfoot, the Billings manager.
