The first-place Billings Polar Bears took on the Barton Springs Blues in front of a spirited crowd.

Billings Polar Bears starter Yakamochi Hirano turned in an exceptional performance against the Barton Springs Blues at The Igloo, resulting in a Billings win, 8-0. The Blues, now 12-22, have lost 4 straight.

The Polar Bears got a big hit from shortstop Ramil Laygo. Facing Barton Springs pitcher Alonso Romero in the bottom of the eighth, Laygo pounded a grand slam home run to right. His 4th home run of the season put the Polar Bears ahead, 8-0.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Hirano.
