Polar Bears Lose as Blues Stage Late Rally
|
Starting pitcher Richard Fernández pitched well enough to help the Barton Springs Blues beat the Billings Polar Bears, 5-3. In 7.2 innings, Fernández surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. Barton Springs is now 13-22, while Billings is 23-12.
Eric Martin's at-bat in the top of the fourth was significant for the Blues. Coming to the plate with the bases loaded and Barton Springs trailing 3-1, the Blues first baseman reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Justin Broadfoot.
