Blues Handle Highlanders, 4-2
|
The Barton Springs Blues picked up a win at Blues Field, taking down the Asheville Highlanders, 4-2. Starting pitcher Bobby Monroe was a big reason why. Monroe, now 3-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Tom Butler picked up the save for Barton Springs, his 5th of the year.
Robert William took Asheville hurler Lúcio Patino deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Blues on top, 3-1. In all, William had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Barton Springs manager Francisco Pelaez was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
The loss makes Asheville 25-14.
