Polar Bears Drop Thunder, 8-7
|
The St. Petersburg Thunder and Billings Polar Bears provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Billings Polar Bears used the hitting of second baseman John Sears to subdue the St. Petersburg Thunder, 8-7. For the game, Sears went 3-3 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The save went to Thomas Reed, his 8th this season.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 25-year old second baseman Sergio Costello. Costello had a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Polar Bears ahead, 7-5. For the game, Costello had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Costello, "and then get after it again."
The win has Billings at 16-24.
