Voodoo Get One-Run Win at Northern Virginia
|
The New Orleans Voodoo knocked off the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 4-3, in United States Premier League action at Atlantica. New Orleans pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Pedro Cruz had an outstanding performance. Cipriano Rosas closed the game out for New Orleans, earning his 3rd save. The win lifts New Orleans to a record of 6-3.
New Orleans used the stroke of Always Wright to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Voodoo ahead, 4-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"I was a little disappointed," said Northern Virginia manager David Lister. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
