Voodoo Post 4-1 Win Over Northern Virginia
The New Orleans Voodoo downed the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 4-1, at Atlantica. Stellar pitching by Luis Rosário had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who finished 4th in the PL in strikeouts with 159 in 2052, handcuffed his opponent all game. Rosário, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Andrew Stockton got the save, the 2nd for him this season.

New Orleans went up, 2-0, on Saikaku Kato's 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Kato hit in the top of the seventh, left Northern Virginia pitcher Jorge Souza muttering to himself.

"Luis did a nice job," said Voodoo manager Chase Sims.

Northern Virginia is 4-5 after the defeat.
