Pilgrims Earn 6-4 Win Versus Chesapeake
|
The Providence Pilgrims knocked off the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas, 6-4, in USSL Double A action at Field of Plenty. Providence pitcher and Indianapolis, Indiana, native Tom Boswell had an outstanding performance. Boswell picked up the win for Providence, going 8 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 6-1. Jason Herbert earned the save for Providence.
The Pilgrims got a big at-bat from right fielder Lawrence Woodward. For the game, Woodward went 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 3rd double of the season gave Providence a 3-1 lead.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Woodward after the game.
Providence goes to 21-21, Chesapeake to 27-15.
