Late Rally by Saboteurs Secures 3-1 Win
|
The Toledo Saboteurs, despite a fine performance by Barton Springs pitcher William Richmond, grabbed a 3-1 win at Blues Field. Richmond allowed 3 runs over 8 innings. Toledo reliever Tom Womack got the win, raising his record to 4-2. William Richmond was tagged with the loss. Adam Smith wrapped it up, recording his 9th save.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Ángel Segura? The 22-year old second baseman Segura stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Toledo up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We put together a nice win," Segura said.
The Blues, now 16-27, have lost 4 straight.
