Turbeaus Beat Guinea Pigs, 8-5

Gil Newell was a major factor in the 8-5 Gulf Coast win over Gwinnett. The Turbeaus designated hitter was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Kenny Flint earned the save, his 9th, for the Turbeaus. Gulf Coast, now 25-22, holds down 4th place in the Silver AA.
Gulf Coast took the lead, 7-5, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, right fielder Joaquim Pona hit a 3-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Pona.
