Valdés, Voodoo Too Much for Shredders
|
The New Orleans Voodoo thumped the Hollywood Shredders, 9-1, at The Voodoo Lounge. Jorge Valdés was a big reason his team got the win. Valdés was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Jesús Ramírez earned the win to go to 9-2. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts in 7.1 innings of work. The 5th-place Voodoo lifted their record to 46-39.
In the bottom of the second, New Orleans right fielder Chris Veeck had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Veeck stroked a 2-run single to right-center. It made the score 4-1, New Orleans. For the game, he was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Veeck said.
