Highlanders Win Nail-Biter

The Asheville Highlanders found a way to sneak past the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 4-3, in 11 innings. Asheville pitcher Niek Proeme, for one, had a standout performance. Christian Wilson snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Allen Larson suffered the loss. After today's action, Asheville sits at 32-19, while Squirrel Hill falls to 26-25.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the 11th for Asheville. That's when Tom Baker hit a run-scoring double off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Allen Larson to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"We've got a great group of guys," Baker said, "and we're having fun right now."
