Flowers Lifts Thunder to 8-1 Triumph
|
Carl Flowers was a vital contributor to the 8-1 St. Petersburg victory over Gulf Coast. The Thunder first baseman was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The last-place Thunder lifted their record to 22-32.
The Thunder got an important contribution from third baseman Francisco García, who in the bottom of the first hit a first pitch fastball to right-center for a 2-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Thunder ahead, 3-0.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Thunder manager Alejandro Mingo, "I like our chances."
