Polar Bears Best Thunder in Pitching Duel
|
Pitcher Wayne Horne was sensational for the Billings Polar Bears in his team's 2-0 triumph over the St. Petersburg Thunder. Horne earned the win. Horne yielded no runs over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 8-1. Tim Hill nailed down his 1st save.
The Polar Bears got a clutch hit from Forrest Boone with no one out in the top of the seventh inning. Boone jumped on a full count fastball from Pancho Maldonado and hit a double, staking his club to a 1-0 lead.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Billings manager Justin Broadfoot.
The second-place Polar Bears now have a win-loss record of 31-25.
