MotorBoaters Handed 4-2 Loss by Pierogis
|
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis knocked off the Lake Murray MotorBoaters, 4-2, in USSL Double A action at Heron Field. Squirrel Hill pitcher and Santiago, Dominican Republic, native José Sandoval had an outstanding performance. Otis Farr picked up his 10th save of the season. The 6th-place Pierogis are now 28-29, the MotorBoaters 28-29.
Ricardo Aquino helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he hit a 1-0 changeup from Phil Monroe for a 2-run home run, to give Squirrel Hill a 2-0 lead.
Lake Murray manager David Buchanan said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
