Both teams had their chances, but the Asheville Highlanders eventually prevailed.
The Asheville Highlanders defeated the Billings Polar Bears, 3-2, in USSL Double A action at The Igloo. Asheville pitcher Vince Moran had a standout performance. Moran picked up the win for Asheville, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2.
It could have been a different outcome for Asheville, had it not been for Max Guatierri, the 25-year old right fielder . Guatierri contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put Asheville up, 3-0.
"Vince has got a slow heartbeat," said Asheville manager Chris Sanders. "He doesn't panic or anything."
Asheville has now won 5 games in a row.
