Asheville pitcher Allen Cates had a large part in his team beating the Barton Springs Blues, 5-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The Highlanders lead the Silver AA by 5½ games.

Asheville needed the clutch hitting of Arturo Martas to seal the deal. The left fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Highlanders on top, 3-1. For the game, Martas had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
