The Billings Polar Bears beat the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 9-7 -- though it took them 10 innings. Billings shortstop Tony Mendoza had a pretty good game. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 6. Billings pitcher Tim Hill got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Vern Huffman got the loss. Auno Toivola nailed down his 5th save.

The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Mendoza delivered big-time for Billings, stroking a dramatic grand slam home run off Raúl Guzmán. The game-changing hit put the Polar Bears on top, 9-5.

"Baseball is a wild game -- a crazy game, sometimes," said Mendoza.

After today's action, Billings sits at 32-29; Ithaca slips to 28-33.
