Stingers Lose By a Run at Northern Virginia
|
Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids left-hander Wes Johnston pitched a good game against the Toledo Stingers at Atlantica, leading his team to victory, 4-3. Their 48-38 record puts the Rainbow Mermaids second in the Premier League.
The Rainbow Mermaids got an important contribution from designated hitter José Mondragon, who in the bottom of the second hit a fastball to right for a run-scoring double. It was his 15th double of the season and put the Rainbow Mermaids ahead, 4-1.
After the game, Northern Virginia manager David Lister applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
