Pierogis Get Clutch Win Versus Providence
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis got a stellar effort from pitcher Clarence Hayes, helping Squirrel Hill score a win over the visiting Providence Pilgrims, 2-1. The win went to Neal Huff in relief, making him now 3-0. Jean-Luc Morand took the loss for Providence. The win puts the Pierogis at 28-34, while the Pilgrims drop to 32-30.

Had Scott Danior not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Danior hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Pierogis.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Providence manager Arturo Rochel said, following the tough loss.
