Squirrel Hill pitcher José Garza did his part in helping his team defeat the Providence Pilgrims, 4-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Garza yielded no runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 4. His record improves to 6-5. Squirrel Hill is now 29-34.
With no one out in the bottom of the second, Scott Danior put Squirrel Hill in front, 1-0, with a run-scoring single. The Pierogis went on to win the ballgame.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Danior told the Squirrel Hill Times.
