Blues Rally Late to Clip Gwinnett
|
Experimental Stadium hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
The Barton Springs Blues scored a tight, 2-1 win versus the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs at Experimental Stadium. Barton Springs pitcher William Richmond held his own in the contest. The win belonged to Gil Guerrero in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Rod Pritchard took the loss for Gwinnett.
Barton Springs used the timely hitting of Troy Blackwell to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blues on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Blackwell.
The 5th-place Guinea Pigs have lost 6 straight games.
