Downward Spiral Continues for Gulf Coast
|
The Toledo Saboteurs topped the Gulf Coast Turbeaus, 8-5, at Toledo Backyard Park. Toledo center fielder Tim MacPherson was a spark plug for the offense. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Juan Soto, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 5-8. Salvador Martínez closed the game out for Toledo, earning his 2nd save.
Shawn Dalton, who is tied for 8th in the SAA in total bases with 113, contributed to the Toledo win with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," MacPherson told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
