The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids got great pitching from 13-year veteran Chris Jackson, allowing them to bump off the Toledo Stingers, 2-0. Getting the save was Juan Carlos Mejía, his 16th. The Rainbow Mermaids bumped their record to 49-38 with this latest triumph.

Northern Virginia starter Chris Jackson was exceptional. The 6-foot-2 right-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits over 8 innings of work.

"Chris mixed and matched," said Northern Virginia manager David Lister.
