Asheville Gets 4-2 Road Win
The Asheville Highlanders got a good effort from starter Junior Smith in defeating the Marquette Miners at Marquette Stadium. The final score was 4-2. Smith got the win, improving to 7-5. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Mike Nichols was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 4 save opportunities.

Asheville third baseman Carlos Hernández landed a blow when he belted a 3-run home run in the top of the first. It was his 5th home run of the season. With it, the Highlanders took a 4-0 lead.

After the game, Asheville manager Pancho Campos applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.

With the win, Asheville upped its record to 42-30.
