Turbeaus Win Again, Streak Now at 12
|
Despite a great performance by St. Petersburg third baseman Francisco García, the Gulf Coast Turbeaus defeated the Thunder by the score of 8-5 at Mobile Home Park. García was 3-4 with 3 singles and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Gulf Coast reliever John Harris was the winner. His record is now 4-2. Jen-djieh Li took the loss. Mike McCauley locked down his 2nd save.
Hemet, California-born Steve Bullard came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Turbeaus trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Gulf Coast on top.
"Young guys to old guys," said Bullard, "we're all going out there and doing what it takes to win."
Now 46-29, Gulf Coast has won 12 consecutive games.
