Polar Bears Knock Off Highlanders at The Igloo

Niek Proeme pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Asheville Highlanders, despite Proeme's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Billings Polar Bears at The Igloo. Andrés Chávez was credited with the save for Billings, his 4th of the season. Their 32-43 record puts the Polar Bears 9th in the Silver AA.
Billings took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when John Sears hit a clutch solo home run to bring Polar Bears fans to their feet.
"We were in it," said Asheville manager Chris Sanders. "We just didn't score enough runs."
